APC governorship aspirant Hon. Terwase Orbunde has rejected the outcome of the party's 2027 Benue governorship primaries, alleging that the exercise lacked credibility due to the exclusion of many of his supporters from voting. He claimed that party officials and election materials failed to reach several designated voting centres, affecting the integrity of the process. Orbunde said he would challenge the results through the APC's internal mechanisms while urging his supporters to remain peaceful, stay loyal to the party, and trust that the leadership would address his complaints fairly.
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, has rejected the outcome of the party’s 2027 gubernatorial primaries conducted in the state.
The results of the exercise were announced on Thursday at the party’s state secretariat by Prof. Mohammed Kabir Isah.
In a statement issued shortly after the announcement, Orbunde described the exercise as lacking credibility, alleging that many of his supporters across the state were denied the opportunity to participate in the voting process. According to him, reports from several wards indicated that party officials and voting materials failed to arrive at designated centres where the primaries were expected to take place.

He maintained that the outcome of the election would have been different if all eligible APC members in the state had been allowed to vote freely.
“The lack of credibility in the exercise is capable of eroding confidence and faith in the party,” Orbunde stated.
The former Chief of Staff to the Benue State Governor disclosed that he would formally petition the party leadership and other relevant authorities, seeking redress through the APC’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms.
Despite expressing dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, Orbunde appealed to his supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions within the party.
He also urged them not to leave the APC, expressing confidence that the party leadership would fairly address the issues raised in his petition.
Orbunde further commended his supporters for what he described as their resilience and loyalty despite alleged intimidation and inducements before and after the exercise.
He expressed optimism that “the truth would triumph in the end.”
